Acme Whistles is steeped in whistle manufacturing history. Founded in 1883, the company is the creator of whistle legends such as the Metropolitan Police Whistle and the Acme Thunder used by referees globally - an example of which was found on the Titanic.

WebXpress' brief was to create an on-line shop using the latest e-commerce technology for the public to buy whistles directly from Acme.

The design challenge was to take this old world company and set it into the modern context of the web without loosing its traditional appeal. The technical challenge was to create an e-shop that Acme could run with very little in-house IT knowledge.

The site allows shoppers to experience the sounds of the whistles before they buy, and features archive footage of the development of the famous Meteor - the world's first two-man flying whistle!
